Hello, church family and friends!
Before I begin, I want to say a word of thanks for remembering my birthday last week. I have been very blessed as I aged another year, and you made it easier to bear. Y'all are great!
Second, I wanted to ask you to pray and plan ahead for the next two Sundays. This weekend, we will conclude our look at the Book of Jonah by noting he did not do a good job of praising God. Interestingly, when Jonah was praying in the fish's belly (chapter 2), Jonah vowed he would give praise to God. Sadly, his song of praise is nowhere to be found. I hope you will have a voice of praise on Sunday morning as we worship at the 9:00am or 10:30am services.
Next weekend, I feel led of the Lord to interject a week to concentrate on our church family and our community. This has been a crazy, weird year. Things are getting back to normal (if there is such a thing), but many are carrying weights and burdens. I hope that you will gather on-site, if possible, and online as we remember Jesus' invitation to those who are weary and heavy-laden. Remember, Christ told us where to find rest and hope when He said, "Come unto me." I haven't even talked to the staff yet about the change--they are seeing it when you are. Bring your cares. Invite others who have burdens. And then let's give them to Christ and rejoice in the God Who loves us and wants what is truly best for us.
Today was the funeral for Lynn Johnston, the mother of Amy Osborne and Julie Ryan in Alabama. Please pray for their father, Bro. Jerry, and their families that God's peace and grace would comfort them.
Hey, we have seen many miracles on our behalf this year. As such, I know we can continue to trust the Lord. Should you have a spiritual need, prayer request, or praise, please let me know by replying.
Blessings,
Pastor Dennis M. Schaffer
