Open Door Baptist Church

The thought of a new family...Sunday mornings at 10:30, we're seeing ways God says we can have a new one as we let God transform each of us into the people He wants us to be. If we do these things, it makes a huge difference! We don't have to settle for dysfunctional relationships--we can let God make them so much more! How does God help this happen?

On Mother's Day, Jochebed showed us the type of faith our families need: a faith 1) that cares, 2) that is bigger than the gods of this world, 3) to identify with God's people, 4) to attempt great things for God.

Once we settle our faith on God, then we can start trusting God for the changes our families need. One of the biggest things "gone wrong" in families is a breakdown of communication.

This coming weekend, we'll peel back the blinders to look at how powerful communication is (for good or bad) as we talk about "Taming the Tongue." So often, we discount the value of good communications and either do not say what needs to be said or say things the wrong way or to the wrong person.

Taming the Tongue

I know you want to have encouraging and positive relationships in your family and with others. The truth is, no matter how bad things get, and no matter how good things may seem to be, there is always room to improve how we talk to each other. Communication can spell out the life, death, and health of your relationships. I hope to see you Sunday at 10:30am!

P.S. There's been a great response and spirit at Open Door. (Watch a video about unity here.) A couple of ways to experience more of what God is doing is by attending Sunday school/small group Bible studies. If you're looking for a place to connect, please let me know! Also, plan to come to a new, exciting multi-generational Bible study for all ages on Wednesday nights starting in June, called WOW Wednesdays!

Please continue to pray for our ministries as we grow together in Christ.

Blessings,
Pastor Dennis M. Schaffer
