Thanksgiving Offering & Friend Day

I hope you are looking forward to what God is going to do this Sunday as we prepare to gather and worship together.

Last Sunday evening, we had a great time hosting folks on our campus for Trunk-orTreat. I was so excited to meet new people and invite them to see what God is doing at Open Door.

It's been an amazing journey to see God bless and work over the years. In a work only He can do, even apart from regular services, He is reigniting, reinvigorating, and reviving our focus on His mission for the world. God is loving people by sharing the truth of Christ with them via our church and ministries. It's our mission together.

We have partnered with a team of faithful servants and missionaries who are doing just that around the world! We are focusing on them two ways this Thanksgiving. First, we want to be a blessing and provide them a touch from Louisiana to help them celebrate Thanksgiving wherever they are. We are doing this through our Thanksgiving offering, and we hope to get everyone involved in giving by this weekend, so we can send that touch before Thanksgiving. Our goal is $5,000, and we are halfway there. Our desire is to send $100 to each of our missionaries and to help the Shoemakers with Church Planting America purchase a ministry building.

Please help us reach that goal by giving at the service in the offering plate, or, what most people do, is give online (give.odbc-church.com), via the app (Apple | Android), or by texting an amount to +12252404679. Be sure to mark it for the Thanksgiving Offering.

Second, we are going to show you how God is blessing both near and far when we have our Thanksgiving Praise Service on Sunday, November 21 at 6pm. Plan now to be blessed beyond your wildest imagination! Visit here for more information about this special event we're calling "A World of Thanks."

This coming Sunday is also "Friend Day," and I encourage you to find a friend or invite someone you meet to come--they'll probably enjoy being your friend if they can come for a pancake breakfast (with available topings) 9-9:30am before Sunday school (9:30am). To top it off, with the time change everyone gets an extra hour overnight, so hopefully we'll all be a little more rested and prepared for a great morning of worship and fellowship together!

I am grateful to teach the Connecting Pointe Sunday school class and to help people connect with Christ and our church family. It's one of several available classes for folks to be a part of during the 9:30am Sunday school time. All of our teachers do a great job, and you will learn much from them.
During the morning service at 10:30am, we will seek to learn a few lessons from a veteran soldier in the Bible.

Finally, I am thankful for you. I appreciate you reading this note, and I pray you will be blessed!

In Christ,
Pastor Dennis Schaffer
