How do you respond when your beliefs are being upended?
This is a serious situation we find ourselves in when we discover evidence that tips our mind and heart to go a different way. Sometimes this is very good—other times it’s a terrible disaster.
Sunday morning at 10:30, we’ll see a moment when Peter, the lead Apostle and church leader of the time, faced such a challenge.
In Acts 10, God shook the very core of Peter’s belief system. At first, too smart for his own good, Peter displayed a programmed reaction based on his traditions and nationality that would have hindered God’s plan. God was gracious to work with Peter, and soon he had a prayerful response that opened the door for more people to know Jesus, the risen Savior.
God mashed the “Reset” button on Peter’s faith. If God reset the faith of the #1 leader of the church, do you think your own faith might need to be reset from time-to-time?
Each week, we’re asking, “What happens when the eternal flame of God’s Spirit burns in a new temple family (the church)?” It’s empowering today knowing what happened in the Book of Acts as believers lived out their awe of Jesus and His resurrection.
How do you react and respond to the truth of God’s Word?
We all hold some things sacred, but not always for holy reasons. Some religions lift traditions higher than the Bible. Sometimes we believe things we’ve heard without thinking through them. Other times, we’ve drawn weird conclusions.
Let’s turn in awe back to the Lord, and let’s let Him sort out and guide the thoughts and intents of our hearts.
I look forward to worshiping Jesus with you Sunday at 10:30am!
Blessings,
Dennis Schaffer, Pastor
