Do they really make a difference?
First, I want to state that God has marked recent weeks with His clear presence and blessings on Open Door Baptist Church, Academy, and Childcare Center. As my purpose is not to delineate them here, I trust you will note them and rejoice with us!
Second and primary, I have many times been disturbed by the evil in the world. It's easy to see, and it often scares me knowing what it will do to society. What is not so easy for us (me included) to see, by way of comparison, is the evil that is in our own hearts.
One of the reasons I think we don't see the evil in our own lives is because it is scary, too. We'd rather keep it inside and hidden in the darkness. Here's where we find what will help us.
Sunday, if you'll afford God the opportunity, we'll find a Light to help us see what is really lurking inside. When we see it, then we can figure out how to deal with it. Way too often we let it alone, and we don't ever really even know what it is!
Here's where the hope comes. When we know what it is going on in our hearts, then the same Light can help us deal with it and tend to it.
I know--just thinking about dealing with whatever it may be can be a scary thought. I am here to say once you see it, there's hope--great hope! I won't say it's a small thing, but I will say the Light is massively bigger and more capable of dealing with anything. I am more confident now than ever that knowing what is on the inside of any of our lives can be defeated and can give way to righteousness.
To answer the question posed above, yes, righteousness and evil do make a difference. We know it through our daily experiences that confirm the truth of God's Word. We also know which path is eternally better and which is worse.
Come take a look with us on Sunday morning at 10:30. I think you'll agree.
God bless,
Pastor Dennis Schaffer
