Thirsty?

By Dennis Schaffer

For what are you thirsting? If you had enough money, time, and opportunity, what is the first thing you would pursue, do, or try?

We all thirst for things in life. Jesus did, too.

One of the last things Jesus said on the cross was, "I thirst."

Pause at those words. They are significant. They reflect Jesus' inner desire for something, and what He wants is more than a drink.

Jesus was on a mission. He was thirsty from passionately pursuing His desire on the cross to save us from our sins according to the plan of the Heavenly Father.

"I thirst," He said.

It's hard to imagine God being thirsty, but we thirst and have desires because we are created in His image.

It's best, then, for us to be thirsty for what Jesus thirsts for.

And how may we know for what Jesus thirsts? We see His example in the Word of God.

The Bible will show us more of what Jesus thirsted for specifically on the cross when we meet together on Sunday morning at 10:30. (Can't come in-person? Participate online.)

It is refreshing to worship the Lord together. He has done great things and is directing our thirst and stretching and expanding our faith by leading us into new territories as a church family.

We all need connections: we need God and each other. I hope to see you Sunday!

In Christ,
Pastor Dennis Schaffer
