It's truly a joy to be part of a continuing miracle called "Open Door."
Sunday, October 1, Open Door Baptist Church will be celebrating 55 years of shining the light of Christ to the capital region of Baton Rouge!
Come take a look back at our earlier days and get a glimpse of the ways God is opening doors ahead of us. We have seen miracles happen that have left us amazed, and we look forward to showcasing the Lord's goodness and grace. Additionally, we have a blessing to share about a project taken on by Open Door more than 20 years ago that is now completed.
No matter where our church has been located, who our pastors, leaders, and members have been, or what projects and programs we have launched, the heartbeat and mission for us is still the same: glorify God, share the Good News of Christ's salvation, and invite people to follow Him as His disciples. This is part of the foundation that unites and employs us all in our mission field.
Celebrations are better with food. Plan to stay after the 10:30 morning service to eat with us. We will host our first church-wide dinner in the new Family Life & Education Center (FLEC).
I am excited to celebrate what God began locally 55 years ago, but what is happening here is part of something much larger with eternal implications. We have fun, but Open Door is not a game. We smile, but we know there are hurting people. We serve with grace, but we battle the unholy powers of Hell. With hope we anticipate the Lord's continued aid and soon coming, and we appreciate all who are, have been, and will be part of the miracle God is doing through His Church.
Hallelujahs,
Pastor Dennis Schaffer
