Hello, friends!
God created two models of people—men and women. This weekend, we celebrate men and dads.
Growing up in a family with three other siblings, there were a couple of times when my dad stepped in, settled everyone down, and spoke to the chaos. He is my childhood hero and continues to be as an adult.
This reminds me of the world we’re living in right now. If you and I were to go back and predict what this year would look like, none of us would have foreseen Coronavirus, rioting, rogue branches of government, and major shifts in logic, ethics, conversation, censorship, mob mentality, and even humor. In short, the world has become a crazy place, but do not despair.
Whenever we see things like this, we can turn to the Bible to give us a clear picture. It’s not anything new. Satan is stirring the waves of the sea; and Jesus is still the God of the sea. Christ can even walk on the waves! Like Peter, we’re invited to walk through the tempest while keeping our sights on the Lord. And someday, Jesus will come and say, “Peace, be still,” and the waves will bow to their Creator.
Like my dad has sometimes needed to do to his unruly children, God speaks to the chaos and brings leadership, order, peace, and calm. And when He does this in the future, He will be recognized as everyone’s Hero!
I hope this weekend you’ll celebrate the guy heroes God has put into our lives—and, yes, celebrate the Ultimate Hero, the Master of the Universe, the Prince of Peace, and the King of our hearts—our caring Heavenly Father.
We’ve got two services rolling on Sunday. The early service at 9am and the later service at 10:30am. We have a little gift to give each of the dads attending. Thank you for recent and growing participation at the services both onsite and online.
The following Sunday, June 28, we will celebrate our nation’s birth by having special patriotic services entitled, “One Nation Under God.” We’ve invited all our elected officials and candidates, and hope some will be there to introduce themselves. But, let’s come and look to the Establisher of nations, humble ourselves, and seek unity under Him and His purposes.
We are looking forward to getting our other services and events up and running, and we are trying to do so both expeditiously and cautiously as the Lord leads.
Keep praying! This week, I’ve seen—you’ve seen—we’ve seen—a bulk number of answered prayers. Lots of stuff—people, planning, priorities, protection. It’s been amazing!
