"The Lord is my shepherd."
I am sure the words of Psalm 23 have been a great source of help to you as they have been to me.
Charles Spurgeon calls Psalm 23 "the pearl of Psalms." Alexander Maclaren said that "the world could spare many a large book better than this sunny little psalm. It has dried many tears and supplied the mould into which many hearts have poured their peaceful faith."
The psalm brings front and center the presence of our personal Shepherd, Who is the Lord!
As I have prepared for Sunday morning's 10:30 service, my heart has been filled and blessed and assured by this small, powerful psalm!
Remind yourself of these poetic words that have carried many saints through dark-valley-days:
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Friend, as you head into the weekend, I pray you, too, will be refreshed by the presence of the Good Shepherd in your life!
Look around our website (opendooronline.com) for other happenings this fall. I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday! We have Sunday school at 9:30am and the morning service at 10:30.
Finally, I would love to hear how God has shown His grace to you as your Shepherd. Email me at pastor@opendooronline.com.
